Re[2]: Restoring 7.1x data to 7.2x instance
Posted in 1998
We have successfully taken a 7.14 database backup and restored it to a 7.23UC3
engine several times. As long as the usual applies between your test system and
production (size and devices are the same) it shouldn't be a problem. It goes
through the physical restore and logical restore, and then rebuilds the
sysmaster database. Informix tech support told us that it could not be done but
it seems to work. Let me know if there are any potential problems with this that
I am not seeing.

Since we have 4gl, isql, esql/c also installed, could I reinstall 7.13
to a different directory, reset $INFORMXDIR, and enable the 7.13 engine
from there?
