To do what you want to do, you will need a web server on your database server. Then once you have that, the CGI script will have to handle the database connectivity and report back a web page that your browswer can understand. As for security issues, if you can run this CGI, then everyone else can as well. This is assuming that they know what your form looks like, but with certain web servers, you can block access from certain sites or allow access from certain sites.
