I don't think you can unless (this is gross but may work)
mkfifo -p mypipe
start the archive to mypipe (which may have a link to it).
Then whilst the archive is running do
cat < mypipe | rsh host2 "cat > /dev/rmt0" &
[Urrgh! I said it was gross]
THIS WOULD BE UNSUPPORTED AND MAY WELL FAIL.
I doubt it would work since mypipe is not seekable but it may..
Just don't quote me...
