It's not Carol, It would help for you to post the structure of the tables involved, the indexes, and a SET EXPLAIN output. Going on just a **very** little bit of info, I'd think that you may be doing decision support queries, doing parallel table scans on tables instead of using indexed reads. I've gotten trapped by this a few times.
