Informix 4GL 4.13.UD1
Posted in 1995
Well, my client just upgraded to 4GL RDS 4.13.UD1 Looks like some of the bugs is fixed, but that brings out the "bugs" in out existing 4GL programs. You see, the new version forbids you to draw outside the current window, which is correct, but pokes so many holes in the existing 4GL program. sob..sob. That aside, I have some questions that I need help with. I have a form, for example screen { ------------------------------ [a1 ] [a2 ] [a3 ] [a1 ] [a2 ] [a3 ] [a1 ] [a2 ] [a3 ] ------------------------------ } attributes a1 = formonly, s_empno, reverse, required; a2 = formonly, s_start_date, reverse, required; a3 = formonly, s_end_date, reverse, required; when leaving field a2 to field a3, the value in a2 will be filled in automatically into a3. I will expect the user to either press enter to accept this default value, or key in a new value. That is exactly what I get in earlier version of 4GL, 4.11 to be exact. But after compiling in 4.13, pressing enter to accept the default value of a3 gives me error message "This field requires an entered value!". for example, I keyed in "7", "<ENTER>", "31/3/95" ------------------------------ [ 7] [31/3/95 ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] ------------------------------ when I press "<ENTER>" now, I will get ------------------------------ [ 7] [31/03/95 ] [31/03/95 ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] ------------------------------ with the cursor at the third field, I should be able to simply press to accept the row, but I will get the "This field requires an entered value!" error message. This forces me to key in "31/3/95" again!! The "required" attribute is probably the culprit, but I indeed intended it to be a "mandatory" field. But I also don't want the user to have to key in the date again when the automatically filled in value is correct. Any suggestion, anyone??
