All,
Anyone have any luck with the RedHat Enterprise System (RHES 2.1 or
3.0)
and installing/running the IDS 7.3 Engine, SQLRT, and CLIENTSDK?
RHES 3.0 and IDS 7.3 seem to be library incompatable (glibc changes in
Redhat)
Any one have luck with the 2.1 verison?
IDS is looking for GLIBC 2.0, RHES 3.0 glibc saw (per Redhat
newsgroups) major changes and release level to 2-3-2.
Per glibc website, the error messages are bogus at intall and
executing simple onstat commands but its all looking at glibc.
Will Infomrix 7.3 work on the ES Linux OS?
Thanks,
Kelly

I don't know if this will help you in any way, but
I had Redhat 8.0 running with 9.4 IDS, SE and old
7.2 version of ISQL. Never tried Redhat 9.0, but
most people in this NG that tried had some issued.
Presently running 9.4 on SuSe 9.0 Pro.

There are, as you mentioned, glibc problems with later versions of Red Hat (RH9, ES/AS 2.1 or 3.0). Having just gotten IDS 9.4 to run on RH9, I can tell you that nothing is really supported on RH9 yet. (IDS 9.40.UC2 ran without a problem; blademgr was another story, however.) IDS 9.40.UC3, which is due out in a few weeks is certified for RH 3.0. I'm going to guess that you'll have to get a ported version of 7.3 also (if it is going to be supported on the Linux platform). For tools (Client SDK, 4GL), you have to open a case with support and get a "patch port" version. I am in the midst of this now, so I can't comment on if/how it works. FWIW - Some folks on the Linux list are trying to raise the profile of these problems so that IBM addresses this platform more quickly and correctly. Calling support is one of the best ways to do this. Also, some of the actual developers hang out on the linux-informix list and help solve these problems more quickly than on this list.
