RSS Replication Questions

OS: AIX 5.3 Informix 11.50FC4 I have a few questions on RSS: In the Informix manual under HDR Requirements it states the following: "The primary and secondary servers must be able to run the same IBMR InformixR Dynamic Server (IDS) executable image, even if they do not have identical hardware or operating systems. For example, you can use servers with different LinuxR 32-bit operating systems because those operating systems can run the same IDS executable image. In this situation, you cannot add a server on a Linux 64-bit operating system because that operating system requires a different IDS executable image. Check the machine notes file: you can use any combination of hardware and operating systems listed as supported in the same machine notes file." So the release notes for 11.50FC4 for AIX has in it "OS Information : Built on AIX 5L 5.3 Technology Level 4 SP 2. Certified on AIX 6.1.". So can I replicate "Primary - AIX 5.3 (P6 570) to RSS - AIX 6.1(P750) with the same Informix binaries"? >From an RSS perspective is there benefit from going to 11.50FC4 to 11.50FC7 besides bug fixes and new features, just RSS functionality/fixes? Also is LOG_STAGING_DIR in RSS only useful for DELAY_APPLY? If I have a Primary and RSS instance running on 11.50FC4 and want to upgrade them to 11.50FC7, do I need to restore the RSS instance again or will it connect to the primary when started? - Shutdown RSS then Primary - Install 11.50FC7 on both - Startup Primary then RSS - Need to restore or will it resync??? Thanks, Jeff

Yes --- All we care about is the Informix Binary. >From an RSS perspective is there benefit from going to 11.50FC4 to 11.50FC7 besides bug fixes and new features, just RSS functionality/fixes? Also is LOG_STAGING_DIR in RSS only useful for DELAY_APPLY? We use the log staging directory with HDR as part of checkpoint processing.
