Informix esql/c libraries (MT) thread safe?

Are Informix esql/c libraries (MT) thread safe? Example: Parent P1 has an open informix connection I1. Parent P1 does transaction based operations using I1. Parent forks a child process C1 and parent continues to do operations using I1. Child C1 spawns an informix connection I2. Child C1 does transaction based operations using I2.
