Ending ontape -c

It says in the documentation that you can end ontape -c by pressing
Ctrl-C. I figured that if i run ontape -c in the background i can "kill
-2 xxx" it, but it doesn't seem to work. Is it supposed to work that way
with 7.22.UC2 on Unixware 2.1.3?
Also, i heard mention that a section about ontape-ing to disk i.s.o.
tape has been added to the faq but i'm not finding it. Any pointers?
TIA

I think that it was June Tong who added the section to the Informix
FAQ that she maintains not the Informix or IIUG official ones. Search
the IIUG Archive of this group for June's posting with the URL for that
about 1-2 weeks ago.

Once you get the session ID, you can use onmode -z to stop it. i do this in
my rclogs.sh ( http://www.backupcentral.com/mytools.html ) Here's some code
snippets:
case $VERSION in
4*|5*)
INFPID=`$ONSTAT -u | grep 'A---M.*informix' | awk '{print $3}' `
;;
6*|7*|8*)
SESSION=`$ONSTAT -u | grep 'P..M.*informix' | awk '{print $3}'`
if [ -n "$SESSION" ] ; then
INFPID=`$ONSTAT -g ses | grep "^$SESSION" | awk '{print $4}'`
else
INFPID=''
fi
;;
esac
case $VERSION in
6*|7*)
$ONMODE -z $SESSION && \\
sleep 10
;;
esac
[ -n "`$PS |grep \\"$PID.*$ONTAPE .c\\"|grep -v grep`" ] && \\
kill $PID && \\
sleep 10 && \\
[ -n "`$PS |grep \\"$PID.*$ONTAPE .c\\"|grep -v grep`" ] && \\
kill -9 $PID && \\
sleep 10
