HEELLLPP! - Easy questions on Informix SE/ I-Net !?

I use Informix-SE 5 on an RS6000 box and access it over a WAN (TCP/IP) using I-Net and Q+E ODBC drivers installed on client PCs. Up until now I have been concentrating on the client application (VB3 with Q+E DDToolkit) but now need to be more conscious of data issues, seeing as we are going fully live very shortly. All suggestions on any of the following areas will be greatly appreciated. QUESTIONS... At the moment all users are accessing the database using the 'informix' user. Is this OK? If no, what should I do? If yes, how do I set access privileges on tables for different users? How do I tell who is connected at any particular time? How do I implement locking using Q+E? Where do I get information regarding such client-server type issues? I use Crystal Reports which truncates database character fields > 256bytes. Informix-SE 5 doesn't support memo fields.
