Technically speaking, any SCO Unix binary will run on AT&T Unix SVR4. There are, however, two factors to consider :- 1. Object formats between SCO and SVR4 differ. SCO uses COFF format whereas SVR4 has standardised on ELF. COFF libraries can, however, be converted to ELF using the SVR4 utility cof2elf. 2. SCO support the System 5 File System. SVR4 supports this format but it is NOT the default format - this is UFS. Therefore any SCO binary running on SVR4 that reads through a directory file will need to be running on a s5 file system. *NOTE* Migrating the Informix binaries and data to SVR4 without need for conversion and product upgrades would undoubtedly offer your customer the simplest upgrade path. However, I am strongly opposed to illegal software duplication and therefore, *STRONGLY RECOMMEND* that he/she inform Informix and pay for an the new licence.
