Just make sure there are no tables which were altered that might have undergone inplace alter (7.23 only did this in a limited number of types of alters). If so you must update every row in those tables (UPDATE table SET acolumn = acolumn;) so that the alter is completed before attempting the upgrade otherwise it will fail and you may not be able to back down to 7.23 either. You can use oncheck -pT to see if any tables have a Version number greater than 0 in the "Home Data Page Version Summary" part of the report if so that table has been altered in place and the rows need to be updated to force the alter to complete.
