Informix's Data Replication Policy

Could somebody (preferably somebody from Informix) tell me what Informix's official policy regarding hardware and software setup should be when it comes to DR. At first informix told us it was same hardware and same OS (this is when Online 7.10 first came out) no ifs, ands or buts. Now they tell me as long as you have the same On-line version and a few minor other things the same (same dbspace setup, same logical log space, etc) but nobody gives me a straight answer. I wouldn't want Informix to change their policy when 8.0 comes out and not support me. thanks,
