Online Archives

Online 5.00 on a HP Unix 750. We have ran across a problem in one of our OnLine Engines when attempting a full archive level 0 to Dat. With all the Tape Parameters, tapes and tape systems remaining the same, we have been experiencing write errors when the system is approaching a second tape. We are archiving 1.317 gig of data to a 1.3gig Dat tape with Tape Parameter set at 1.3gig, having the need to use a second tape. It has been usuall for a second tape to be needed when the archive is app. 60% completed. With all the same hardware and archive scripts in tact we have been recieving this error consistently at 58%: -------------------- Please enter the level of archive to be performed (0, 1, or 2) 0 I/O error progress, 58 percent done.. Error writing to tape device, Error No. = 32. Program canceled. ----------------------- This error dictates that it might be trying to write to a new tape or device around the time for tape change. I have successfully archived to /dev/null. I have unsuccessfully archived using smaller Tape Parameters -- block and tape sizes. Archives continue to fail using a different destination, with a different environment and tape dev files, whether in Tbmonitor or using tbtape -s. Has anyone ever heard of bugs within the OnLine Archiving system when using more than one Dats for Archive? Is there something more obvious that I have missed? Thanx for your help Mikea Boise HP mike@hp.boi.com
