Salute to you, Informix gurus!!! I am preparing to convert (as an initial step) COBOL software running on Unisys hardware to s SUN Solaris 2.5.x environment running OnLine DSA 7.20.??? The Cobol software will be migrated to MicroFocus Cobol but the data will be stored on Informix. To all of you who have successfully completed a similar task, could you please share any information available on the subject. The typical questions that arise are: - Should we use ESQL/Cobol or ESQL/C? - if ESQL/Cobol, how do u implement a transaction with the Cobol code? Is it simply a series of EXEC statements within a Cobol COPY member? How do you code the "BEGIN WORK", "COMMIT WORK" and "ROLLBACK WORK" commands? - what are the do's and don'ts of ESQL/Cobol? If you have any sample "converted" Cobol programs that you could share with me, it would be greatly appreciated!
