Oracle to Informix migration

Hy, I am using Informix ON-Line since Release 4.1. Now I need to transfer several tables from an old Oracle 8.0.x to Informix. As I have no idea of oracle and the manuals (as far as I could find them at the clients place) are more or less useless without experience. There is also the factor time. I am now looking or a tool beeing able to connect to Informix On-Line 10 as target system and Oracle 8 as Source System, doing the following: -connect to both worlds -EX-/Import of databases and tables from Oracle to Informix -automatic conversion of variable Types -Export/Import to ASCII files Does anyone have a (product) hint for me where to look? Google delivers to much without real information except high prices ... Thanks in advance. Joerg
Hello, Have you looked at Enterprise Gateway Manager? http://www-306.ibm.com/software/data/informix/tools/egm/ This should handle the connection and allow you to select from the Oracle db into Informix tables, though perhaps not quite the fully automatic solution you're looking for. Read the ORACLE FAQ, this should be a starting point on how to use the meta information to at least know - tables & their structure - indexes - views However, stored procedures triggers and such won't be that easy ..... dic_k -- Richard Kofler SOLID STATE EDV Dienstleistungen GmbH Vienna/Austria/Europe
