You don't say which engine you're using. This is well documented in TFMs,
but in summary:
1. With SE, you back up your DB directory with tar or cpio and also backup
the log file. You then simply restore this backup, go into dbaccess/isql and
say ROLLFORWARD DATABASE (or ROLLFORWARD LOG, I'm at home and I don't have
TFM to hand. :)
2. With OnLine or DSA, you can use tbtape to backup your DB. tbtape -- will
give you all the options. You must archive your data and backup your logs.
When you restore your archive, the system will ask whether you have any logs
to rollforward.
3. With DSA, you have the option of using OnArchive. But it does require a
two training course... :-)
HTH.
Hasta la vista!
