My informix management suite
Posted in 2011
Hi Group,
Long time lurker, first time poster.
Im posting this to the group to get feedback for my Informix management
suite, as well as tell you a bit about it.
The current tools like AGS and OAT, simplify Informix by replacing the command
line utilities with a WIMP interface.
I have taken a different track. The administrative functions have been broken
down into shared and re-usable services.
These are available from either the command line or a browser based GUI.
The underlying functionality is still performed by the standard Informix
utilities.
Space management is still done by onspaces, backup and restore is still done
by ontape and onbar etc.
The infx management suite provides the environment for these utilities to run
in, so you dont have to worry about settings such as INFORMIXSERVER and
ONCONFIG.
My plan: Provide the core/basic version for free.
My question: Am I crazy?
Thanks,
Jason
