RE: Informix startup on AIX

I'm not sure about your version of AIX, but I did experience a problem if the rc.informix script did not have an exit statement. A successful start should return via exit(0). -----Original Message----- From: Helmut Leininger [mailto:Helmut.Leininger@bull.net] Sent: Friday, June 26, 1998 1:26 AM To: informix-list@iiug.org Subject: Re: Informix startup on AIX Hi, That's not too difficult. Best thing is you write a script (e.g. rc.informix) and put it into /etc. The script could be linke the following: #################################################### # " @(#)rc.informix 95/08/30 " # setting environment variables . /_run_profile TERM=vt100; export TERM LANG=de_DE; export LANG case $1 in 'start') su informix -c $INFORMIXDIR/bin/oninit ;; 'stop') su informix -c $INFORMIXDIR/bin/onmode -ky ;; *) echo "usage: /etc/rc.online {start|stop}" exit 1 ;; esac #################################################### Then you put a call for "online:2:off:/etc/rc.informix start >/tmp/online.log 2>&1 #Online start" into /etc/inittab and insert a call "/etc/rc.informix stop" into /etc/rc.shutdown.
