Kevin, Check to see what level of locking is taking place (e.g. row, page, etc.). If page level locking is occurring that can cause system degradation. Try maybe resorting to row-level locking. It requires a few steps, like who's being effected by the locks, investigating who the locks are owned by, and what tables are effected. Then determining what level of locking is on that table. Finally changing to the desired locking level. Hope this is helpful Dave Samuels - NCR dave.samuels@chicagoil.ncr.com ==========Kevin Ignasiak, 10/28/96========== In a weeks time our Informix Online 5.03 system will generate about 1.2 trillion lock requests! This is with maybe 10 users on the system. A 'tbstat -p' shows no ovlocks, only 4 lokwaits, and just 1 deadlks. So the lock request don't appear to be causing any problems, but the few users are concerned about the response time they are receiving on their NCR 3600. Could 1.2 trillion locks over a five day period cause a significant system degradation? Thanks in advance, Kevin Ignasiak (937) 229-3871 ignasiak@opus.oca.udayton.edu -- Kevin Ignasiak
