Re: Fw: 617 error

Hi Darren,
it is not possible to insert char data into text or byte fields using
"insert into ... values(...)".
As you already figured out you can load data from a file "load from ...
insert into ..." .
You can also write a program (ESQL/C, Visual Basic, what ever) to do
this. You will find an example in the CSDK/demo/esqlc directory.:
blobload.ec
The functions Filetoblob, Filetoclob, etc. manipulate smart large
objects (datatype BLOb and CLOB) which are stored in a smart blob space.
TEXT and BYTE types are simple large objects.
Good luck,
Marion
