Over the weekend we updraded from HP-UX 10.10 and Informix 7.24UC6 to HP-UX
10.20 and Informix 7.30UC7.
After this upgrade the user root is generating a 951 message.
10:12:59 listener-thread: err = -951: oserr = 0: errstr = root: Incorrectpassword or user root is not known on the database server.
All other users can access the db without problems.
Role separation was not installed.
Any help is appreciated.
thanks
ron

I agree with Octav. It looks like during the OS upgrade the root
.rhosts file was destroyed or lost, or if root did not have one then
the /etc/hosts.equiv file was replaced or lost.

Are you running you HP-System in trusted mode ?
Do you receive this error also when you enter username and
password during "dbaccess-connect..." ?
If yes, that's a known informix bug.
Try to set the password aging for user "root" to default in "sam"
(not to "don't expire").
This should work.
Best regards
