ODBC Problem -Reply

Letchu My short answer would be to ditch intersolve and move to Openlink. Presuming you've already spent the money this is the debugging procedure I used back in the bad old days when I was in your position. 1. Open a telnet session. If that works your connection is OK. If it doesn't then your problem is in the connection software config. 2. If 1 works. Run the login tester in Informix. It doesn't come up as an icon but it exists in the informix/bin directory. I think it called ilogin.exe. You need to connect to the stores database. If this doesn't work then your problem is with I-NET. 3. If 2 works. Open MSQuery and try to kick up a connection. This will usually work once 1 & 2 are taken care of. If 3 doesn't work then you are buggered (to use a technical term). I would move to an open driver. I found Intersolve to be very flakey running off MSAccess although that was as of last August; perhaps it is better these days. Our hos is a AIX 3.2 and the database is Informix SE 6.0. When I use MS Query to access the Informix host I get the error 'getservbyname (WSANO_Data) System call failed' . Any one out there had a similar problem? Any help will be useful.
