16 BIT ODBC WITH NCHAR

Hi, I have a problem with 16 bit odbc driver of informix. I want to use nchar and nvarchar data types with gls settings. But i am getting error message like " this data type is not supported..." I want to know whether i can use nchar or nvarchar with 16 bit driver. Thanks for all responses.
