isql vs dbaccess SOS

Hi Informix Users:
I find something peculiar in INFORMIX, currently I am using
INFORMIX-SQL Version 7.20.UD8
Software Serial Number ACN#J288413
DB-Access Version 9.20.HC1
Software Serial Number ACN#J288408
I have a table, where tablename is 20 characters. when I use
isql
table-info on this, I get
" ISAM error: duplicate value for a record with unique key"
dbaccess
table-info on this table, I get perfectly alright ( Status of the table
) and also I find + after
18th character of the table name, whereas in isql I see only first 18
characters.
Does that mean when Informix recompiled for longer table names, they
have ommitted tool.
(isql and 4gl)
Also I find 4gl donot recognize table defined with
<mytable> record like <tablemorethan18chars> donot recognize.
Error coming out of isql is very misleading, as users might think it is
table data having duplicates
In fact it is the table name itself INFORMIX isql is reporting as
DUPLICATE.
I will contact INFORMIX to open up as BUG.
Rgds
ISQL 7.20 predates the long names in IDS.2000 and Foundation.2000.
If you wish to access the database with ISQL, do not use table names longer
than 18 characters.
Ditto for I4GL.
Memo to self: long names needs attention in 7.4.
