Re: Backup problems on Win NT 4.0

"Jon Inge Sten" <jims.epas@elanders.no> offerred:
+I run an Informix db on my NT 4.0.
+The problem is that the ontape command can't find the tape device.
+I think the problem may be the "mounting" in the ONCONFIG file:
+TAPEDEV \\\\server\\Tape0
+
+The backup works just fine when i write to a file:
+TAPEDEV c:\\backup\\file.000
I have used tape device \\\\.\\tape0 to perform backups with no difficulty, but I have
never tried using a tape on a different server. Is the tape generally available to
NT? I.e. could you do a regular NT backup to the tape across the network? Does the
user you are running as have the proper permissions on the server where the drive
lives? Does the tape need to be set up with any sort of sharing to be used this way?
Just some thoughts.
