Sounds like this user does not have all of the required environment
variables exported or even set. Most critical are ONCONFIG, INFORMIXDIR
and INFORMIXSERVER for access to shared memory. Check the permissions
on shared memory (ipcs | grep informix) they should be "-rw-rw-rw" so
anyone has permissions.

Anyone can run onstat. It is normally available to all users.

Only user informix and root have full permissions.
