Each database created in an Informix instance has a separate set of users. You can view the users for any given database with the following syntax "select * from sysusers;" More specifically, when you issue a grant statement -- it is exclusive to the database currently opened, as in the following which grants dba privileges to unixusr for the database named dbname: echo "grant dba to unixusr;" | dbaccess dbname echo "select * from sysusers;" | dbaccess dbname username usertype priority password unixusr D 9 Where D stands for DBA, C for Connect, ...
