Solaris 7 & 4GL ? Dumps core!

Hi all! I've got the following question: We've got a couple of SUN Enterprise systems running Solaris 7 and we'd like to have those servers as application servers (among other this). But here is the problem: Our 4GL application compiles fine, runs ok, except it *DUMPS CORE* (Segmentation fault) if users type in DELETE and/or ESCAPE key while running the app! We're using DELETE key as interrupt key (that's an old compatibility requirement with SCO which we ran a couple of years ago) and ESCAPE to raise int_flag so that the application knows when the user wants to quit. I've tried with the following versions of 4GL: INFORMIX-4GL Version 6.05.UD1 INFORMIX-4GL Version 7.20.UD7 INFORMIX-4GL Version 7.30.UC1 And I get the same result whatever version I pick! I'm using the C compiler from SUN, version 5.0 and/or version 4.2 (I also get the same result)! Please note that I already put all relevant patches to the operating system/compiler! What might be the problem here? Is it caused my an operating system? Or informix software? Please note that I'm running the same application on Solaris 2.6 without any troubles at all (no segmentation faults!)... I'm not a debugger expert, but I recompiled the code with -g switch, ran it under debugger and get the result that the code got a segmentation fault at the address 0x4! I've to no stack trace... Is there any other way to debug the application? I've also probed the following: I recompiled the code under Solaris 2.6 and installed it at Solaris 7. It *DOES NOT* dump core under Solaris 2.6 and it DUMPS CORE under 7! The very same code! Well, thanks for answers in advance. I'd prefer e-mail responses! =b -- ============================================================================ mag. You have to be sure that you aren't using ucb library. You can see that with ldd (your runner) command. Look at you PATH e.v. Note you need to give the full path to myprog.4ge since sdb does not use $PATH to find your 4ge! Check the you have /opt/SUNWSpro first in your $PATH before /usr/ucb. Make sure $INFORMIXC is not set as well. >> I've also probed the following: I recompiled the code under Solaris 2.6 >> and installed it at Solaris 7.
