Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
Before upgrading IDS 9.4 to FC9 on AIX 5.2, the poster asked how to determine exactly which Informix products (Client SDK, 4GL, ISQL, etc.) had already been installed, rather than guessing by inspecting directories. Respondents pointed to $INFORMIXDIR/etc: each installed product and sub-product (e.g. ESQL/C and ODBC from CSDK) leaves a file ending in "-cr" showing the product and version, and there is also a .snfile there. The poster thanked them, so the question was answered.

Hey everyone. I need to perform an IDS 9.4 upgrade (to bring it to the FC9
level) on an AIX 5.2 machine. Is there a way to determine with absolute
certainty which Informix products (aside from the engine) were previously
installed? Meaning Client SDK, 4gl, isql, etc? Is there a file that contains
this info or do we need to eyeball certain directories?
Thanks
Hi Will,
check in $INFORMIXDIR/etc for files ending with "cr"
you will see the products and the version.

There should be a .snfile in $INFORMIXDIR/etc

Failure is not as frightening as regret.
If you want to improve, be content to be thought foolish and stupid.
It is better to be criticized by a wise person than to be praised by a fool.

I $INFORMIXDIR/etc there will be a *-cr file for each installed product and
sub-product (so CSDK installs ESQL/C, ODBC, etc.).
