Hmmm, actually its more like they are too close to the problem and need to step back and see the big picture. The other issues are egos. Informix bet their lunch on their new technology, aka the Illustra acquisition. So where are the Illustra sales? That's what happens when they have *market vision* yet fail to do their market research and planning. Does Informix have accurate demographics outside of their 20 top and favorite customers? The other issue is that Informix is continuing to ask the wrong questions. Hence they always get the same answers which don't address the real issues. For Informix, time is running out. May is fast approaching, and since they have yet to release Q4 of '97 numbers, I don't think that they are going to be good. Finocchio and Saranga et al are going to have a hell of a time explaining their actions at the annual shareholders meeting. Of course we are still waiting for the other shoe to drop on the pending litigation and the SEC investigation. Oh, I'm sorry, *THATS* part of the denial thing Informix is going through. (Especially Mike Saranga!) But then again, I'm an *armchair* QuarterBack. I don't know a damn thing about running a company. I'm just a lowly independant consultant who goes in and solves problems for a living. ;-) -Just a few words from your Uncle Mikey. :-) -- #include <std_disclaimer.h> /* Mike Segel (MS385) */ #include <No_Spam.h> #ifdef OFFENDED_BY_CONTENT The author takes no responsibility for this post.
