As far as I know, BLOB data types in OnLine are very limited when it
comes to accessing them or processing them. You can only insert or
select a BLOB data column.
I believe Universal Server has what you are looking for (datablades).
My suggestion would be to put a signature at the top of the file/data
and retrieve the whole BLOB column and let an external process (C/C++)
analyze it and process it accordingly.
