Re: Calculate Logical Log Required

I am sure this answer will get shot down in flames as being inaccurate but here goes:- You need to calculate the volume of logical logs required. My rule of thumb is to multiply no of rows by (row size+28) times 3. That gives how much log space a load might need in the log. But if you are committing regularly less space will be required. Then the space required is no of rows between commits multiplied by (row size +28) times 3. That works with the older versions of IDS and should be more than ample for the latest versions. As to how much space is required for the update, again if you use my formula used for the load you should always have enough space. regards Malcolm ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mark" <kbl@net-yan.com> To: <informix-list@iiug.org> Sent: Tuesday, February 03, 2004 4:13 PM Subject: Calculate Logical Log Required > I have read DB Adm reference and some other Informix manuals and cannot find > how to calculate the required logical log need for following cases.
