I am not sure which physical file are you talking about.
1. If you are talking about how to read a file and map it
to a set of columns look at the purpose function
am_rescan and/or am_getnext. The Flow Diagram in
chapter 4 of the manual show the folow.
2. Your shared library containing the VTI code?
This is specified by each purpose function's
"create function" statement.
3. A file that your VTI is attempting to use.
There are many ways to do this in your VTI code.
1. Hard code it in your VTI code.
2. You can create an external space using onspaces command
(just like a dbspace) then when you create your
table you use the "fragmentation portion of the create
table to associate different external spaces with your
table.
3. See the VTI manual for many other ways.

OK. I'm obviously missing something. I'll advertise for a consultant. NOWHERE can I find any reference to mapping and physical files. Yes the diagrams are very nice, but I need systax diagrams and examples ....
