If you have large tables/indexes, speed is important (obviously). Also, when attempting to use update stats to perform a conversion (under an 'early' release), I found that it failed to convert some indexes. These were not discovered until after I 'thought' the conversion was done, and started our application. Well, you can guess what happened....
