Do you mean you defined an INSERT trigger that calls a stored procedure which, in turn, inserts rows into that same table? If so, no wonder it LOOPs forever! Each insert the trigger affects causes the trigger to fire again, ad infinitum! Is this REALLY what you wanted? Please post the problem statement, not the trigger/procedure code, and someone will try to recommend another design. BTW: If you can determine from the column values whether the inserted row is an original or generated row you could short circuit the LOOPing in the stored procedure that performs the additional insert(s).
