Re: Page Cleaner in ONCONFIG

Wu, The Page cleaners job is to flush dirty buffers to the disk. If you look in the Informix manual, then recommend 1 page cleaner per physical device per controller. Obviously, Informix hasn't looked at the real world, with disk striping and RAID-5. The rule of thumb that I use is that it depends on the amount of dirty buffers that you write to the disk. Depending on your configuration, you may only be flushing a small amount of dirty buffers. So you don't need a lot of page cleaners. Too many page cleaners just means idle processes that don't do any work. I usually keep the number of page cleaners equal to the number of LRU queue pairs. This works fine in most cases.
