Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

Onstat -g dic is used to dump dictionary information. The dictionary is the
"in-memory" version of systables/syscolumns/sysindexes/ etc. The system uses
the dictionary to create the query plan that will be used and to map the
columns of a table. There are some events which will cause the dictionary
information to become "invalid", such as running update statistics. What this
really means is that a "fresh" copy of the dictionary information for that
table needs to be used by the optimizer. We can't simply remove the old copy
because it will still be in use as long as it's reference count is above zero.
(i.e. a prepared statement, open cursor, etc. is using that information) What
we do is to mark it as dirty. Then whenever a new query is optimized, the
dirty entry is skipped and a "clean" copy is used. As soon as all of the
reference count reaches zero, then the dictionary item will be removed from the
dictionary cache.
