Replication for Archiving ? Is it possible ?
Posted in 1997
Many log-based data replication systems allow to select, on per-table basis, transaction types replicated to other databases. This can be used as a vehicle to implement an archiving facility where all inserts and updates are replicated, but the deletes are not. In that way a small 'transaction' database can be maintained where transactions older than x days can be deleted - allowing fast user access, with continuously growing archive database where all transaction records are stored. Microsoft SQL directly supports such facility and it can be done in Oracle by customizing its replication triggers. Is there anything similar I could use on Informix platform to achieve similar result ? Please help anyone , Henryk Nowicki Cape Town
