Problems adding a new column referencing other
Hi Everybody:
I've got a problems adding a new column in this environment:
create table T1
(
id_T1 integer not null primary key,
name char(50) not null,
other char(50) not null,
);
create table T2
(
id_T2 integer not null primary key,
id_fk integer,
salary integer not null ,
other char(20),
foreign key (id_fk) references T1(id_T1)
)
if T1 is locked, for example:
begin
lock table T1 in exclusive mode
I can't execute this:
alter table T2 add other2 char(20)
242: Could not open database table (informix.T1).
106: ISAM error: non-exclusive access.
is there any way to add the new column when the father table is locked?

Hi again: I've got the solution!!!: Just changing: id_fk integer, for id_fk integer not null And i can update the second table with no problems Thank you very much!!!!
