Informix ESQL/C and the SQLDA Structure

I am building an Embedded SQL application which is going to build a dynamic query. The SELECT statement is constant, but the WHERE clause changes. According to the Manual I can use an SQLDA structure to set up the variables, and open the cursor with a USING clause, like : $OPEN q_cursor USING descriptor input_vals; However, I'm getting a core dump doing this at the Cursor Open. If ANYONE has an example of this sort of application, or just a code fragment, I'd be very grateful to see it. (My applications interface with a WWW server to provide Dynamic, Forms-based queries to Mosaic and other graphical browsers.
