It depends on your version of I4GL. The more recent versions have controls which allow you to specify whether commands are run in form mode or line mode, and it is the switch from form to line mode and back again which flashes the screen. Check your release notes, and upgrade as necessary. 4.14/6.02 are about the earliest versions that give you that control.
