sqgetdbs call returns too many databases names
Posted in 1997
We have an application here that uses the ESQL/C call 'sqgetdbs' to return a list of database names (only for version 5 servers since sysdatabases has the list for 6 and 7). This call returns the correct list if the only connection made so far is to a single 5 server. Later on, as we open and close connections to other servers, a call back to 'sqgetdbs' returns a list of ALL the databases on ALL the servers that we have connected with so far. I've even tried doing a 'DISCONNECT ALL' and then a CONNECT to the version 5 server, but still I get too many database names. Also, the names returned all end with the server name of the 5 server, even though not all the databases are on the 5 server. I knew this was a problem right away when I saw 'sysmaster@on54hp' as a database name. Any one seen a problem like this before? BTW, this is ESQL/C 7.20 on Windows NT Workstation (both TD1 and TE2 fail). HOWEVER, ESQL/C 7.1 on the UNIX side with the same code works fine. The 5 server is 5.04 on HP. -- David Gilbert (xanadu@mcs.net) WEB: http://www.mcs.net/~xanadu
