Yes, you must have STAR installed on your server that has the OnLine database in order for a client to access the OnLine database. > Or INFORMIX/NET is sufficient ? NET is sufficient only on the client. If the intent is to have the client access only the server's OnLine database and not have it's own local database, you don't need any engine on the client. You could have a configuration where you have a 4GL compiled application on your client with the 4GL runtime package, and the NET runtime package also on the client. The application is written to access the OnLine database on your server which has STAR on it allowing clients to connect to the OnLine database. When you execute your application, the NET product sends a request for connection to STAR to connect to the OnLine database. > If INFORMIX/NET can do, are there any restriction ? The only documented restriction is that the client cannot create a database on the OnLine server. > > Thank you. > > Teruki Niki Tokyo Research Lab. > Matsushita Electric Industrial Co.,Ltd. >
