Paul,
I just put together this test program which I think tests the
things you complain about. Running on Solaris 2.3 with 4.12.UC1
SE and 4.12.UE1 I4GL-RDS, everything works without a problem.
You don't supply either platform or software version information,
so I can't say whether you have run foul of problems since fixed
or not. There have been many bugs fixed at various times which
might affect this.
I don't think you made a mistake buying RDS -- I use it as the development
tool of first choice for all my 4GL development work. But I admit that I
can hardly claim to be unbiassed.
