IIUG-IDS-9-4-UC2-linux Problems Redux
Posted in 2005
I've been having problems getting IDS-9.4 running; in particular, oninit
will not start (it stops at ADM VP).
With a great deal of help from Alexey Sonkin, it appears that the
problem is related to the __on_exit@@GLIBC_PRIVATE function in
libpthread in glibc. After a lot of swearing, rebuilding glibc for i686,
and some additional investigation (I looked at the change log in glibc),
I've found this in ChangeLog for glibc-2.3.4:
2004-05-01 Jakub Jelinek <jakub@redhat.com>
...
__libc_pwrite64, __waitid and __pselect @@GLIBC_PRIVATE.
* stdlib/Versions (libc): Remove __on_exit@@GLIBC_PRIVATE.
...
And I've noted that oninit:
-rwsr-sr-x 1 informix informix 10254034 2003-07-08 14:29 oninit*
This leaves me with a quandary -- I'm running Slackware 10.1 with kernel
2.4.29 as my "production" system and Slackware 10.1 with kernel 2.6.10
as my "testbed" system -- what do I need do to get Informix to work? I
can probably find a pre-2004 libpthread and stick it in
/opt/informix/lib (if that will do it), but is that the best option? Do
I need to add something to LD_LIBRARY_PATH so oninit will work?
And, if I manage to get that going, where the heck did ESQL/C go? Do I
need to install another package that I don't have or use the stuff from
Informix 7?
