I-STAR / INFORMIX 5

Hi, I hope someone who has dealt with Informix5 / I-STAR / CLI can help me out with some configuration issues. I have a project pending where I have to use an Informix-5 database and Informix -cli for connectivity. I found out the hard way, that the database connection /communiv\\cations stuff was not built in as in Informix 7. We had to buy Informix-STAR for this. Well, I have run into some trouble in configuring I-STAR. I installed ok. But what else do I need to do. The Documentation is as always confusing & misleading. Do I need to run ( SQLEXECD , SQLTURBO ) or do they get invoked by some other process. What configuration files are effected & how ? eg:- SQLHOSTS file ONCONFIG file etc/services file When I try to run sqlexecd it says that I am using the wrong protocol , error no 25507.
