4GL Version 7.32.FC2 SQL Version 7.32 FC2 Engine Version 9.40.FC6 I'm compiling a 4gl program that worked fine on 7.31 engine. (I think 4gl was 7.2, but not sure) Can anyone tell me what to do to resolve the compile problem? All other programs have recompiled with no problems. The following errors were discovered during compilation. | |(Bundled) cc: "sold1.ec", line 21363: error 1716: Automatic aggregate initialization is an ANSI feature. |(Bundled) cc: "sold1.ec", line 21400: error 1716: Automatic aggregate initialization is an ANSI feature. |

You're on an HP machine (99% probability, even though you didn't say
so), and you don't have the ANSI C compiler installed, so you're using
the bundled C compiler that only understands K&R C and does not
understand 'automatic aggregate initialization'.
For example:
I4GL
DEFINE x DATETIME YEAR TO SECOND
ESQL/C
$ datetime year to second x;C
dtime_t x = { 1234 };
The value 1234 is arbitrary and wrong, but I'm feeling too lazy to
calculate the correct value. The key point is that x is a structure
(aggregate) and the initialization is not supported in the pre-standard
(K&R) C of 1988.
The solutions are (1) install the ANSI C compiler or (2) install GNU C
compiler and reconfigure the c4gl script to use it.
Your other machine must have had the ANSI C compiler installed.
