Randy,
"BLOCKSIZE 512K" looks starnge.
Should be "TAPEBLK 512", "LTAPEBLK 64"
Though, I'm not sure that this is the problem
Also, don't forget to set correct '660' 'informix:informix'
ontape file permissions.
