New submission to the IIUG Software Repository
Posted in 1998
I have submitted yet another package to the Repository. This one is
named on_to_unload.shar and it contains a "C" program to read onunload
file containing a single table, such as that generated by the arcunload
program that extracts a table from an ontape archive to onunload format.
It reformats the data rows into an ASCII delimited file. It does not
yet have full data type support but this fact and the problems inherent
in extending the program to handle large row and variable length tables
is explained in the README.1st file.
The program works with arcunload to allow you to edit the archived data
and reload selectively. It also eliminates the problems noted in the
release notes for arcunload vis-a-vis the dangers to your engine and
database since the delimited rows can be loaded with 'safe' utilities
such as dbload and dbaccess' load command.
On_to_unload is great for restoring those 100 rows fumble fingers Louis
deleted yesterday without overwriting other data or having to set up
a separate environment to which to restore the entire table.
Now if I could just get a copy of arcunload for my platform I oculd use
the darn thing myself.
